My Dream For People to Pause and Paint
During my latest Art Exhibit, I talked about my artistic process to many people. When describing it, I mostly talked about how women inspire me in so many ways. I usually get my ideas for a painting by watching a woman sitting on a bench reading a book, or just by listening to a song or watching a movie. But the more I talked about my artistic process the more I knew there was more to it and I had so much to say about it.
As an artist, I’ve always tried to push the boundaries in understanding my creative process and experiencing growth and maturity. I guess I’ve always known that painting women has had a deeper meaning to me. I recently took a deeper look inside myself and discovered something very insightful about what drives me to paint.
First of all, even though my paintings are mainly of the feminine form, what also makes them stand out are the unique color transitions, textures, depth and also spontaneity of movement.
Painting women for me go beyond being inspired by them.
I find myself surrendering to my painting process which allows me to, at one point, stop thinking and just paint effortlessly. I guess you could compare my experience when I paint to something like mindlessly doodling when you are on the phone. That’s when I create my best work. It’s not that I start with the idea of painting a woman it’s more about allowing my self-expression to run free and in doing so, whatever has to come out DOES!
When I stay authentic and honest while painting, creativity just flows naturally. What’s cool is the added bonus I get in discovering clues about what I want my life to be. Through painting, I have discovered the missing link in fusing my love of painting with a burning desire to share my innate gift and make this process available for others. That’s when the idea of Pause and Paint was born.
Lately, when I have a conversation with someone, inevitably the subject of “Life goes by way too fast “comes up every time. In 2015, I will invite as many people as possible to PAUSE & PAINT! It’s my way of giving back and allowing others to experience the joy of painting and unveilling their creativity.
I am looking forward to this journey!
If you live in my area, I hope you will come and join me for a Pause and Paint Nights! More details coming soon!
